BruxZir® Anterior is the latest advancement in the BruxZir® Solid Zirconia product line. This highly esthetic restorative material is designed specifically to satisfy the esthetic and functional requirements of the anterior region of the mouth.

Exhibiting an average flexural strength of 650 MPa with translucency and color similar to natural dentition, BruxZir® Anterior is an ideal, esthetic solution for your anterior cases. In addition to its esthetics, BruxZir® Anterior requires less reduction than monolithic glass ceramic restorations and is kind to natural opposing dentition during occlusal and parafunctional activity. What’s more, BruxZir® Anterior restorations are designed and milled using CAD/CAM technology to ensure a precise fit.

BruxZir® Anterior Indications

BruxZir® Anterior restorations exceed the ISO strength requirements for cemented all-ceramic restorations and are ideal for anterior and premolar single-unit crowns, anterior and premolar 3-unit bridges, and anterior and premolar implant restorations. Prep requirements are more conservative than competitors in its class with only 0.8 mm of reduction required though 1.25 mm is ideal.

Preparation Requirements

Shoulder preparation not needed, chamfer is preferable. Conservative preparation similar to full-cast gold.

  • Facial reduction: minimum 0.8 mm; Ideal 1.25 mm
  • Lingual reduction: 0.8 mm
  • Incisal/Occlusal reduction recommended: 1.25 mm

Helpful Hint: Provide a shade of the stump (preparation) if it is different than that of the crown shade.

Cementation Recommendations

Cementing BruxZir® restorations with resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGI) cements, such as RelyX™ Luting Plus (3M ESPE), Fuji-CEM™ 2 (GC America), and Nexus™ RMGI (Kerr):

1. Try BruxZir® crown in mouth and make any necessary adjustments to contacts and occlusion.

2. Sandblast internal surface of BruxZir® crown for 15 seconds, or place Ivoclean™ (Ivoclar) inside of restoration and rinse off after 20 seconds.

3. Place zirconia primer, such as Z-Prime™ Plus (Bisco) or Monobond™ Plus (Ivoclar), on internal surface of BruxZir® restoration and dry for 3-5 seconds with an air syringe.

4. Mix and place RelyX™ Luting Plus, Fuji-CEM™ 2, or Nexus™ RMGI cement in crown, seat crown on tooth and proceed with cleanup.

Bonding Recommendations

Bonding BruxZir® restorations with self-adhesive resin cements such as RelyX™ Unicem (3M ESPE) and Maxcem Elite™ (Kerr), self-etching resin cements such as Panavia™ F 2.0 (Kuraray) and MultiLink® Automix (Ivoclar), or etch-and-rinse resin cements such as NX3 Nexus™ (Kerr) and Variolink II (Ivoclar):

1. Try BruxZir® crown in mouth and make any necessary adjustments to contacts and occlusion.

2. Sandblast internal surface of BruxZir® crown for 15 seconds, or place Ivoclean™ (Ivoclar) inside of restoration and rinse off after 20 seconds.

3. Place zirconia primer, such as Z-Prime™ Plus (Bisco) or Monobond™ Plus (Ivoclar), on internal surface of BruxZir® restoration and dry for 3-5 seconds with an air syringe.

4. Mix and place any of the resin cements above in crown, seat crown on tooth and proceed with cleanup.
